BLOG POST #5 NEW YORK TIMES

Though the Grammys is a music industry event, the fashion is often the topic of conversation. Who could forget the infamous Versace dress that Jennifer Lopez wore during for the 2000 Grammys, or the various bold dresses that Rihanna sported to the event? The Grammys is a night that is often filled with great music, controversial events, and great fashion. However, this year according to New York Times writer Vanessa Friedman, the fashion at this star-studded event left a lot to be desired. Friedman did however point out a few outfits that graced the red carpet that were noteworthy.

Her toned belly was clearly an integral part to this Atelier Versace design. The 1950’s inspired get up featured a bandeau top and high-waisted bottoms. The author described her outfit as though she were wearing a “pin-up swimsuit” This is merely is to allude to the fact that the outfit was 1950’s inspired. The women in the 1950’s wore high waited pants similar to her Grammy outfit.

Cut outs seemed to be a trend that (seen here on Selena Gomez) with people such as Bella Hadid, and on Ciara both by Alexandre Vauthier.

The author noted that if there was a fashion story that night that it would be cut out. This is to say that cut out were worn by a plethora of celebrities. Even Adele got in on the action and had her shoulders showing. The authour described the fashion at the Grammy's to be "tame" Over all the author was underwhelmed with the fashion at the Grammys.

BLOG POST #3 STREET TRENDS

(This is me this past weekend wearing Nike's, shopping for some Adidas. )

In high school I was always the girl who overdressed for school. Cute flats, small heels, and knee high boots where my go to school shoe. So as you can imagine, I have not ever had the want to wear sneakers outside of working out. However, when I started to see people on the streets style sneakers in a way that did not scream slob, I was into it. I mean after all they are comfortable and cute and walking around the cold city all day in heels is just not an option.

Sneakers have become a staple in streets style and has made its way to some of the top bloggers. Sneakers are being styled in a way that gives off a "cool" laid-back classy edge. Adidas are often used to create this look.

 What was once seen as simply work out gear has become very Chic. Take a look at how well
these metallic Nike's go with this Channel bag. They make the look classy and glam, while being comfortable. These sneakers are by far my favorite.

Even Chanel has hopped on the bandwagon . This is a great example of the trickle up effect. Street style has influenced the fashion industry, and this Chanel sneakers illustrates just that. My feet are loving the trend and thank me everyday. I hope it continues to stick around. 

Blog Post #2 A Key Item Important For Spring 2017.

According to one of the forcasting servies offerd through F.I.T Fashion Snoops  a style that will be back for S/S 2017 is what they call “soul” which really is a bohemian type of style. The key item for this look is a kimono so don’t get rid of any kimono's you had the past few summers because in S/S 2017 they will be back. They suggest wearing a kimono over a tunic dress and fluid silk pants , a long kimono over a bra and wide leg pants, or a kimono with a top and skinny jeans.

This is an example of three ladies wearing a kimono three different ways.Whats interesting about this is that though they are all wearing a kimono they have all choosen to wear it in different way. This speaks to the versatility of this peice.

What’s interesting is that this style was quite popular in the spring/summer 2014. Pictured here is a kimono from 2014 on asos.com that I found on pinterest. This is a great example of how they say that fashion is a revolving door and that nothing is really new. Instead it is revamped.  

This is my ideal way to wear a kimono. Im looking forward to this trend in S/S 2017
